IYT Brotherhood Photo and Reflection

Here we join our boys completely enthralled in the fast-paced action of the foosball table!

These are just a few of our brothers who are meeting up for a commemorative picture under the sun.

At IYT, we believe that growth doesn’t just happen in the classroom—it starts with brotherhood. Recently, our brothers came together for a special moment before diving into study and discussion. We stepped outside, soaked up the sun, and captured a group photo that represents the strength of our community.

This wasn’t just about a picture—it was about pausing to acknowledge the power of being together, recharging with positive energy, and reminding ourselves of the bond we share.

Afterward, we went into the classroom ready to “lock ”in”—sharpening our focus, leveling up our mindsets, and pushing each other to grow into the best versions of ourselves. These moments remind us that success comes not only from hard work but also from unity, joy, and brotherhood.

My Why:

This work is important to me because, growing up, I often felt I needed support from an adult to navigate life's challenges. As a child, I tried too hard to fit in, and my fear of failure held me back from pursuing my goals. I found it easier to quit and pretend I didn't care, just like everyone else, rather than face the pain of failure. It took me years to finish college because I fell into nearly every pitfall and setback along the way. Once I realized that my perspective was flawed and holding me back, I made more progress towards my dreams than ever before! Now, I want to show others that it's not simply "okay" to care and try hard, but it's actually the "coolest" thing you can do. My goal is to shift the status quo so that the most admired people are those who put in the effort to achieve their dreams. I want to eliminate the fear of failure for my brothers by showing them that while chasing your dreams can be scary, failure isn’t the worst thing that can happen. As the saying goes, "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all," and I believe, "It's better to try and see the results than never to have tried at all." Helping someone like me achieve success in education would be deeply meaningful and healing to my own journey.
