At IYT at Elliott Alternative Education Center, fifteen motivated juniors and seniors fueled their college aspirations by touring Stanford University on November 21st, where they gathered insights from student panelists, proudly purchased Stanford gear, and even saw the IYT Brothers featured on the Jumbotron during a basketball game. This pivotal energizing experience provided firsthand vision and reinforced the critical next steps toward their college journeys.
Academic Achievement
Portrait of Brother Juan.
In the month of November at Elliott, we proudly celebrate another brother achieving early graduation. Juan Rosales started IYT last school year and actively engaged with both his mentor and the program. Juan successfully applied to the military and gained acceptance. He is set to deploy with the Marine Corps in the spring of 2026. Juan plans to utilize his G.I. Bill to further his education and become an electrician once his service is complete.
Leadership Workshops
An image from one of the brother's own handwriting describing what he is thankful for.
The brothers at Elliott were deeply engaged in a series of workshops focused on leadership development. They explored and identified their personal leadership styles and participated in activities designed to teach them how to collaborate effectively with different leadership approaches. We also celebrated the month with art activities while having a meaningful discussion about gratitude, practicing this value by exchanging positive affirmations with one another.
AG Visit
Group photo from the press conference with three of our Executive Directors, Josh Fryday, AG Rob Bonta, IYT Co-Founders, Mentors, Brothers, and more.
We were honored to take part in a press conference and volunteer service activity on December 2nd at Natomas High School and Joey’s Food Locker with NHS Principal Marcel Baker, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and GO-Serve Director and CA Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday.
Service is inherently powerful, and intentionally woven into the foundation of IYT. We’ve seen time and again the positive change that happens when people step up to serve their community, and put their values into action.
We’d like to thank Attorney General Rob Bonta and Josh Fryday for their unwavering support of programs like ours, and for taking the time to meet with Team IYT.

Diane Ornelas
Social Services Case Manager, SUSD
As a parent of a current IYT member, I have seen first-hand the impact the program makes on our youth.
We proudly announce Antonio as this month’s Brother of the Month for his extraordinary turnaround at Elliott, overcoming major credit and attendance challenges to aim for early graduation in March! When Antonio began his journey last year, he faced significant uncertainty, but he remained deeply engaged in IYT’s after-school Programming and College Tours. Supported by IYT Mentor Hosmery, Antonio is now excited to attend Modesto Junior College, demonstrating how IYT’s mentorship decisively transforms a Brother’s academic trajectory and vision for the future.
