Parents of IYT Brothers gather for the Parent Orientation

Parents of IYT Brothers gather for the Parent Orientation.

As the semester begins, IYT at Mitchell Middle School has already reached full capacity for its program. The team quickly transitioned into hosting a Parent Orientation to share more information with both new and returning families.

The event had an impressive turnout — about 26 parents and 30 students — so many that we ran out of seats! Families left with a deeper understanding of IYT, enjoyed a meal together, and some even went home with prizes as a thank-you for their participation and commitment to the program.

IYT Recruitment

As the school year kicked off, all of our returning members came back, but a few roster spots were still open. Shaq and Emmett dedicated two weeks to recruitment, meeting and connecting with potential students. Their efforts paid off — they not only filled every spot but also built a waitlist of eager students ready to join IYT.

Brother of the Month

Sam Stovall Cortez, Brother of the Month

Sam Stovall Cortez

8th Grade

This month, IYT at Mitchell Middle School is incredibly proud to honor Sam as our Brother of the Month for his outstanding perseverance and dedication. Sam has faced a summer filled with significant personal challenges, including family difficulties and bullying from others. Despite these hardships, he has consistently shown up to our program each day with a remarkable positive attitude and a genuine openness to learning.

He demonstrates incredible focus on the bigger picture, refusing to be defined by his circumstances. Sam has also proactively utilized the IYT space as a supportive outlet, seeking guidance and connection when needed. His resilience and forward-looking mindset are an inspiration to everyone in our community. Congratulations, Sam, on this well-deserved recognition!

Farahi Law Firm's commitment to justice and community advocacy extends directly to their investment in our youth. Their support will be instrumental in providing the mentorship and resources our brothers need to thrive throughout the school year. We are deeply grateful for their belief in our mission and their dedication to empowering the next generation of leaders.
