IYT Family Orientation

IYT Family Orientation for Thomas Downey High School and Hanshaw Middle School.

We're excited to announce a special evening for our IYT community! Families are invited to the joint orientation for Thomas Downey High School and Hanshaw Middle School on Thursday, September 26, 2025. This is a great opportunity for parents and students from both schools to connect, learn about the academic year ahead, and understand how IYT supports the transition between middle school and high school. We look forward to seeing you there!

Academic Achievement

Brother Rafael

Brother Rafael actively participates in after-school programming, seeking help with homework and creating a study guide for his chemistry class. His dedication has improved his grades to consistent As, and he also supports fellow brothers during study hall time.

Playing Loteria for Hispanic Heritage Month

Brothers play Loteria, with winners receiving special snacks as prizes.

At IYT Downey High School, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with our brothers, exploring the significance of Hispanic culture in America. Students reflected on the achievements, history, and traditions of Hispanic communities, deepening their understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Brother of the Month

Brother Jamie

Brother Jamie consistently shows up during lunch and after school to complete his homework, balancing his responsibilities as a member of the football team. He is excelling academically while taking two honors classes and maintaining top grades, making him a great example of dedication and focus.
